I am a writer and have tried the Lightfield slugs in both 12 & 20 Gauge. I was a doubting thomas when they claimed all of the slugs hit to the same point of ipact regardless of the load. I was wrong. They all hit to the same point regardless of the load at 50 yards. That is true with both the 12 & 20 gauges. I also observed great accuracy and clean burning charactoristics. They are a well engineered product & I won't hesitate to teke them hunting.

Keeping the lead from touching the barrel is true of all Lightfield sabot slug design.
The same self cleaning effect of the barrel is also true for all gauges and types of Lightfield sabot slugs because of the special material that the sabot is made of.
I clean our test barrels about every 4000-5000 rounds or at the end of the year, which ever comes first.

Steve,
I would use the Lightfield Hybred-Exp 2 3/4" (White box) and if you want even more power the Hybred-Elite 3" mag. is the same great slug as the 2 3/4" round only the Elite 3" is 280ft/sec faster and is a sabot capable of delivering over 1000ft/lbs of energy at 160 yards.
It is almost the same TKO factor as a 460 Wby. Mag. rifle.

The Lightfield Hybred-EXP 20 guage will work very well when used in a T/C Encore.

When using the Encore rifle receiver with a 12 or 20 guage slug barrel, using any brand of slug ammo, you will occasionally see the shotgun primer pierced in the center with a black residue around the hole in the primer. This is neither dangerous nor will it interfere with acuracy. It's just an unusal event for those who have never seen it.

Rifle receivers use a smaller diameter firing pin, longer length and have a heavier firing oin spring than any normal slug gun. They are designed for higher pressure ammunition. They must set off a smaller diameter primer with a much harder cup because of the rifle pressures involved. When that high speed firing pin of an Encore hits a shotgun primer, piercing can and does occur.
